Aware: Glimpses of Consciousness by Frauke Sandig & Eric Black (2022). Documentary, 106 min. In English and Spanish with English Subtitles.

What is consciousness? Is it in all living beings? AWARE follows six protagonists from across the globe, that approach this fundamental mystery from different perspectives: Eastern meditation (Nepal), indigenous wisdom (Mexico), high-tech scientific research (USA) and, quite beautifully, the study of the consciousness of plants (Australia). The at times breath-taking cinematography and deep insights guide us towards spiritual reflection and awareness, well beyond a focus on purely rational understanding.

“I see the film as an invitation for us as human beings to step out of our sense of separateness…and realize and understand that we are life itself, that we are part of the living fabric that breathes us and thinks us. And that changes everything.”
